About Richard Stoelzel

Hailed as “one of the foremost performers and teachers in the USA and Canada” and “one of the greatest trumpet players of our time,” reviewers have called Richard’s trumpet playing “virtuosic and lyrical,” “fluid and liquid-like tone,” with “a bel canto style that gave this reviewer chills.” He maintains an active career as an international soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, and is presently principal trumpet with the Palm Beach Opera Orchestra and the South Florida Symphony Orchestra.

An accomplished conductor, Stoelzel was the principal pops conductor of the Harid Conservatory as well as music director of the professional wind ensemble the Florida Wind Symphony. Stoelzel was the founder and artistic director of the GVSU International Trumpet Seminar and is currently President of the World Trumpet Society. He is also a professor of trumpet and chair of the brass area at McGill University’s School of Music in Montreal and on the faculty of the Masterworks Summer Music Festival in South Carolina.
